Blue Whale Plain Weave
Size:
Year:
Plain Weave was inspired by the artist's memories of whale watching with her family as a child. Remembering how rare and special it was to have that experience and wrote a poem for this weaving.
A creature living in the darkest corner of the Earth
A beautiful giant of the sea
A weak bellowing echo across the dunes
To hear that haunting song
To see the wave of a flipper in the distance
Now stranded — helpless.
Nobody really cares
The deepest darkest thing you will ever see
Blue Whale.
