In this artwork, the artist was thinking conceptually about the form of the body in terms of the difference of shapes and sizes. The movements, flexibility, and erosion through years of aging. The physical stages and actions of weaving remind her about parts of her own body and the ways they are challenged and changed over time. In addition to those concepts, this work focuses on the artist's expression of color and texture. Amadi used an unusual yet vibrant range of colors against black to express the visual contrast of dark and light that represent qualities inside and outside of our bodies. In combination with these colors, she used holographic thread to experiment with how light reflects from a material and how it blends itself with other textures of yarns. The holographic thread is meant to represent the nerve endings that are intertwined inside every living thing.


The lights attached to the frame are powered by AA batteries and come with a remote that can adjust the brightness and light patterns when turned on. To see the full x-ray in the piece, it is best to turn on the lights using the remote in a dark room or during the evening when the sun has set.
