Vivid dreams and spiritual experiences hold an important role in the artist's work, especially for this piece, Diamonds & Rust. The work visually represents Amadi's personal experience and communication with a form of her mother's afterlife. There is a spiritual relationship between mother and adopted daughter that is connected within the body of this piece. From reminiscing over her many memories at the Jewish synagogue with her family, Amadi incorporates the Mourner's Kaddish in this work. The Mourner's Kaddish is a prayer recited in Judaism to mourn the loss of dead loved ones and to mark the anniversary of their deaths. This woven image was created to honor the 5th anniversary of her mother's passing.
